A Video Tour of Our Montessori Infant Area

A Video Tour of Our Montessori Infant Area

A short tour of our Montessori Inspired Infant Area (1m 24s).

I can't believe that Marley is already 8 weeks old! She has been spending more and more time in her movement area, so I put together a video tour of her space. This short video shows how it is set up, but more importantly why it is set up the way it is. This is Marley's space to explore her world and learn how to use her body.

The amount of time that Marley spends in this space is totally up to her. Sometimes it is just for a few minutes, while other times she is content for over half an hour. I always make sure she is well fed and changed so that she is comfortable and able to focus. We do our best to let her concentrate (although sometimes that is a bit tricky with an almost three year old older brother.) You might have noticed that in the video she is more interested in her reflection and in looking at her fist than she is looking at the mobile. We trust in her developmental process and don't try to direct her attention to the mobiles. I love seeing her concentrate on her hand at the end of the video!

Here is a list of what is featured in this space and where we purchased it: Floor matsWhale mobileMunari mobileOctahedron mobileDancer mobileGobbi mobile (green)Shatterproof mirror , Plant hooks, and oh so sweet baby bloomers
